The opportunity 

The Senior Operations Manager is an internally-focused leadership role responsible for establishing, streamlining, and optimizing the professional services business for Backbase across the Americas. As a senior leader, you are versatile, self driven, proactive, and completely hands on.  You work day in and day out with an international team of engineers, designers, consultants, project managers, sales executives, and strategic partners to scale Backbase in the Americas to new heights. Your passion for organization, detail, continuous process improvement, and people engagement are the hallmarks of a strong team leader. You can think big picture about business strategy but are completely happy to stay focused on great execution.

Your profile

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of professional work experience

  • Minimum 5 years as a Technical Project Manager in the web and digital applications

  • Minimum 3 years in a PMO for a line of business or 40+ person program

  • Practical and hands on Agile software development experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a consulting, system integrator, or digital agency type professional services business with exposure to resource management, operations, and financial controls

  • Hands on experience and involvement with implementation of enterprise business applications that are both customer or internal facing

  • Minimum 3 years hands on experience with applying Lean methodologies to business process and operations improvements

  • Strong preference for native and business bilingual English and Spanish

  • MBA preferred with a concentration in Strategy and Operations

  • Experience with Online Banking or Financial Services a plus

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor, balance, and find ways to maximize the productive and billable utilization of engineers and consultants to fulfill project needs across the Americas

  • Determine future resource needs based on the sales pipelines.  Drive the planning for new hires and contractors and tap into the Backbase global resource pool to match future demand.

  • Work in close partnership with Client Services, Delivery Managers and Chapter Leads to assemble the right teams, based on resource availability

  • Review, manage, and enforce the internal controls of contract management, invoicing, time tracking, and accounts receivables to protect business risks, improve cash flow and revenue recognition

  • Continuously drive process improvement in all internal aspects of a professional services business, from hiring/on-boarding, software implementation, time tracking and expenses, invoicing, staffing, objective setting, and people performance management using the Lean methodology.

  • Coordinate the on-boarding process of new employees to ensure all new people are adequately trained and ready to perform their jobs, feel a connection to our culture and company, and are excited to deliver with passion within a high performance team.

  • Work closely with other operations managers across Backbase to share practices, support each other in global resource management, and align in one way of working.

  • Focus on office culture and people engagement by instituting improvements to work environments, team activities, and various ceremonies/events

  • Expand the current operations to cover business in US, Canada, and Latin America

  • Work together with teams within Client Partners, Alliance Managers and America’s Leadership to identify, establish, and maintain strategic vendors and agencies in Latin America to expand our resource capacity

  • Track and drive initiatives that improve the effectiveness, productivity, retention, and skill set of our people.
